Does rear wiper come under MOT?

Featured Replies

MOT time soon and rear wiper has failed. Just wondering if anyone knows for certain if its a fail if it doesn't work.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a fail. Off to check.

Excellent news. Just finished fixing all the small problems on my 12 plate then noticed wiper wasn't working and hope to get MOT start of week. Have a working one on my old Octavia but don't have time to remove and fix to my current one as the car is used daily.

Many thanks

No mention in the .Gov test manual.

Autodoc says not normally tested - but if rear wiper is standard factory fitment and considered essential due to installed mirrors not giving sufficient view to rear, may be tested.

@Alasdair1 How did the MOT go, did the tester give an advisory on the rear wiper?

No advisory on wiper. advisory on two lower front bushes (the ones in alloy block) which I have but havent changed yet. Failed on another broken spring (front this time) God knows who put the hub bolt in last time. had to use 1" drive and 6 foot scaffolding pole to remove it. Still to do the other side but apart from that not bad at all for a 120K 14 year old car. Going to nick the wiper motor off my old 1.9tdi when I get a chance. Still got a weird wobble only when accelerating around 50mph but it comes and goes so hoping its down to worn bushes. If it doesnt then replacement drive shafts.
