Towbar advice

Featured Replies

Hello,

I want to get a towbar fitted to my octavia estate 1.5tsi to tow a small camping trailer.

Should I be going to a main dealer so as to get everything working properly with rear parking sensors once fitted - or are people like Towsure perfectly capable of dealing with this?

Also, there seems to be some indication that a separate rear bumper replacement part might be required. Does anyone have any experience of this or know how one can tell?

What would you advise?

Thanks in advance for your help

First thing to check is whether your car is certified to tow a trailer by looking at the vehicle data plate. Several Octavia 4 owners have found their cars are not allowed to tow...

If it's 2024 or newer it will have SFD2, and there are problems with VW releasing the coding for the trailer module.

Pre 2024 cars will have SFD, there are no problems with coding. I had a tow bar fitted to a 2022 Golf 8 with no issue
