Hi, I've got a 2018 Fabia estate. Just started making a noise from the drivebelt area. Not squeaking, but a rattling noise. Most noticeable at idle. Not constant, sometimes not apparent at all. Belt looks fine and all the pulleys seem to be running true (not wobbling) with no play when stationary. Is this a bearing on the way out? Thanks, in advance, for any pointers🙂

Get the cam timing pulley bolts checked ASAP.

Sounds like the issue I had but obviously needs to be looked at (check my post history to see the drama I went through!).

Should be sorted FOC by Skoda Dealer even if car out of warranty (it if is the same issue - variator pulley bolts loosening themselves. Get it sorted ASAP as if they come out while driving could cause a lot more damage!).

Showed this to a mechanic friend of mine and he diagnosed it as the OAP (overrunning alternator pulley) bought a replacement pulley for £60, a Sealyey pulley removal tool for £30 and had it off and replaced in about an hour. Would've probably been quicker if it hadn't been so hot! Also had to use a longer Torx bit than the one in the kit as the original (now discontinued) pulley was significantly longer than the replacement. Easy enough to do except maybe a bit of a hassle getting enough leverage with the alternator in situ but, frankly, couldn't be a**sed taking it off! Done about 300 miles since with absolutely no issues and engine sounds sweet. Thanks for the replies and advice 🙂
