Saw the Roomster today

Featured Replies

Some of us had an opportunity to go see the Roomster today at What Car.

I took a few pictures while I was there, I've reduced them a little so some of the quality is lost -

What I didn't realise was that we'd be making little video's of ourselves. Here's Steve in action -

Looks good , not sure about the phone holder.

Looks great, i like the rims.

Thanks for posting this. I am getting really into this car! Although agree that the phone holder is a bit naff!

Hoping I will be able to see it myself in the flesh at the Skoda Roadshow in Edinburgh next weekend.

That car was fitted with pretty much every option from the list, ones that I could guess were -

Phone Prep

Heated Seats

Rear Electric Windows

Sat Nav

Climatronic

Maxi Dot

Parking Sensors

There is also a radio control, similar to the Ford design, stuck out from the steering column which I didn't really like. A multi function steering wheel would have been nicer.

I wondered if those rims gave a clue to a future model, they awfully RS ish to me.

The front is what you should expect the new Fabia to look like.

Other things I didn't like were the rear seats, they have opted for one of these variable systems where you have 3 seperate seats which can be independantly moved and removed. The amount of levers and latches made them very narow to sit in and would be really uncomfrtable for an Adult over anything more than the shortest of journey's.

I'm not sure if you can see from the pictures but the back edge of the front doors sweeps up. This gives a bit of a blind spot and an almost closed in feel.

Because of the swept up front doors they've had to relocate the visible deterrent LED to the front of the door, not the best position I don't think.

Overall though, a nice car. Not one I would buy but I'm sure in the lesser specs it will be a popular rival for the Van type people carriers currently on the market.

they should have a blindspot camera like the volvo s80 does it blinks if theres a car in the blindspot area:)

Quite a day yesterday. We were about an hour and a half late getting to What Car's HQ near Kingston in London but that's another story.

Same impressions from me too really, nice looking car with lots of nice touches and the quality wev'e now come to expect from Skoda. A few things that wern't so clever was the almost useless glovebox arrangement, a sense of being confined in the front seats not helped by the 'blind spot' that Stuart mentioned and questionable 'van' like styling although it does grow on you.

Overall a good effort from Skoda which I gave it 4/5 and I believe that Stuart also gave it 4/5. Just as a footnote, someone gave it 1/5 just because they couldn't get a comfortable driving position, a bit harsh I thought.

Look out for Novembers issue of What Car magazine where the two amigo's will be shown, warts an' all

Pah, the cruise control buttons should be on a multi-function steering wheel :P I'm still not a fan of it and it looks like a cut and shut with the too big rear windows, imho.

Chris

I like it alot and it`s going to be my next car.

Can't wait to see it next weekend. Considering it against a Toyota Verso which I testdrove yesterday and really liked.

Thanks for all the information,

Lorna
