Adding cruise control to Octavia 3fl

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a 2018 Skoda Octavia 3 FL estate. The car currently doesn't have cruise control, and the right-hand stalk is used to control the on-board computer.

Has anyone successfully retrofitted cruise control to this model? I'm looking for standard cruise control, not adaptive cruise control (ACC).

I'd appreciate any information about what parts are needed and whether any coding or other modifications are required.

Doesn't your RH column stalk control the indicators and wipers?

The left-hand stalk controls the indicators, while the right-hand stalk controls the wipers and has a button for the on-board computer.

Your profile does not give your location - is this a LHD vehicle?

sorry, yes it’s a LHD vehicle.

From what I've seen, it is usually possible to have cruise retrofitted - but I don't think it's a simple DIY job, at a minimum involves replacing the LH stalk and coding.

Possibly something best left to a specialist.

There is a 3rd shorter lever for the cruise control.

I suspect you need to buy this and the associated wiring loom, then the software update etc

Probably easier to buy a car with factory cruise control

For standard cruise control, you only need to replace left stalk with one with buttons and enable/code the functionality in VCDS. both can be done as a DIY job, I have done one on MK1 Octavia, since then only buttons have changed somewhat, job is very similar.

The videos above are for adaptive cruise control which would be far more involved.

I did similar on a B5 Passat (2003). The VAG kit was readily available on eBay at the time.

I also had a main dealer retrofit it to a B6 Passat. It was a company car, purchased at 12 months old. The first month that I had it, it spent 2 weeks at the dealer with DSG problems. They offered me a free service as compensation, but I asked for cruise control instead, as I wouldn’t have benefited from a free service 😀.

When negotiating on my next company car, a B7 Passat, I got the dealer (a different one) to fit cruise control as part of the deal.

None of the above were adaptive cruise.
