5-brakelight mod anyone?

Featured Replies

Since doing the hard-wire mod for activating both rear fogs, I've been intrigued about the so-called "5 brake light mod". A search on Briskoda has not come up with much at all.

Basically the idea is that you get the two rear fogs coming on along with the brake lights, justified by supposedly giving better visibility/safety (but really only done because some think that it looks cool).

On a naughty note  - if you wire it up wrong, turning on the rear fogs would have have the effect of turning all rear reds on - useful for getting racer-boys who are tailgating to wet themselves and hit the brakes hard!!! And probably try to do nasty things to your face/car.....

Oil slick/smoke screen/ejector seat (or should that be ejector skoda) come next:D

Oops, I forget that Jason has already done (at least) one of those mods......

(No-one mention strobe lights please - Xav was out here a while back, and we saw a new beetle that had inside strobes going off:confused:  )

Anyone here actually done the brake light mod - if so (not how) - why?

BTW - it's not that I obsess about the furby, it's just the transferred obsession that would otherwise be wasted (!) on partying, wine, women and song....

Cheers

Bas

Nothing wrong with obsessing a bit with women :P

Joking aside in some places in Spain they DO have flame throwers fitted to avoid car jackers ;) Scary thought that  (having LPG fitted to mine ;))

I reckon it should be possible to achieve this, safest probably by fitting a relay that is driven from the normal brake-light circuit, to provide juice to the rear fogs. It would increase the response time of the foglights to come on, but it would avoid overloading the brake switch/interfering with the foglight circuit too badly.

No clue if it's legal but that's up to you :D

Yup, I've done the smoke screen mod - no real effort, it just happened. :D

I like the sound of flamethrowers - just the thing to make drunk visitors back off my tailpipe in a hurry!
