Looking to replace my long serving (110k miles) Felicia GLi. Looking at a 1.4 MPI Fabia

How does the Fabia compare weight and space wise; how is the peformance/economy cf a Felicia 1.3 MPI?

Does it have chain or belt drive?

The MPI is chain driven same really as the Felicia design.

Space is pretty much the same, I would have thought the Fabia is a little heavier, but feels more solid for it.

I'd try and get a 1.2 if your budget will strecth to it.

The Fabia is over 200KG Hevier using the same engine, Therefore it will be slower and possibly thirstier. Still a nicer car than the Felicia IMHO

I had a Felicia before my first Fabia.

I was surprised to find that, with the back seats down, the Felicia hatch would accept longer loads than the Fabia hatch will. The load surface is also flatter in the Felicia.

However, the Fabia is much more rewarding to drive; less tiring on long runs, I find it easier to park and it's altogether another generation of car.
