2001 Octy vrs Warning light?????

Featured Replies

Hi all

Didn't want to start a new thread but after looking on this site I can't find any solutions. I've only had my vRS 3 weeks now.

Just trundling home last night and the ecu (i think) warning light came on. Checked it today and its still on. I've read loads of threads here about the coilpacks etc, but nothing seems to be wrong with the car, all is working ok, and no loss of power. My local Skoda dealer is shut today, as is the dealer (non-skoda) that I bought it from, which i have a 6 month warranty with. Should I drive it at all, or just wait take it straight to the Skoda dealer (about 8 miles away). The dealer i bought it from is about 40 miles away, so even if the warranty covers ecu probs, i don't really want to drive it all that way.

Any help appreciated

Anyone in the Bexley/Kent area with VAG-COM should be able to help you out to find out what fault codes are being shown.

Keep an eye out for replies, when they get out of bed that is.

Hiya just thought i'd say that i wouldn't drive it just incase it's something major, my mate had the same problem and it was a fault on his turbo, something to do with the oil pressure, but that was because he hadn't serviced his car, has yours got full service history? hope you sort it out.

More than likely a faulty coolant temp sensor if it seems to be running ok.

Yep full Skoda service history. And what is VAG-COM?

And what is VAG-COM?

Have a search.

Ahh so its a software package i can buy and install on my PC. Interesting. Where does it plug into the car then to find faults? And could a bloke like me with little car mechanical knowledge and even less PC knowledge fix faults using VAG-COM myself? Pardon my ignorance, but this is all new to me...

You would normall load it onto a laptop. It then plugs into the diagnostic port the same way the dealers equpment does.

Ahh, problem then, i dont have a laptop. One of my mates has a Golf VR6, i'll see if he has the software, i know he's got a laptop. Cheers!!

Get checked first at garage if the light is still on and nothing showing any codes

then see if your car has had an APR trial mapp that has n't been taken off as this is what buggered mine up, had to get it sent down south to REVO H/Q to get fixed.
