Been having some trouble starting my 1.4mpi - the typical engine fire up, then stopping, and starting on second try - key / immobilizer issue. My spare key works just fine.

The question is as follows: Is it a mather of buying a new key, getting it coded, and problem solved?

Both require recoding id say. If that doesnt work a new key.

May just need a new battery in the key. Visit your dealer.

Take both keys as they may have to recode them.

Is it possible to re-code a key yourself, or is a trip to the dealer necessary. If so any idea how much?

Had the keys recoded 2weeks ago, but the immobilizer is still acting up. Dealer said it could be the immobilizer itself that is bust, but said that since the problem come ang go, there is a possibility it is the key-reader-spool-thing that is the problem.

Anyone know if this could be the case, or has any exp with this?

A new immobilizer is kind of expensive, as opposed to the key-reader-thing...
