I think I should make SWMBO drive the Octavia with the stereo turned up further - she's found another "annoying" noise that I never heard before

When the car is idling, either at start up, or after a journey, there is a creak/squeek coming from somewhere up front. The tricky thing is that when I got it to do it , ran round to open the bonnet - it had stopped!

I've done this three times in all and each time I pull the bonnet release the noise stops.

Therefore I think its something to do with the bonnet However, has anyone had a similar creaking noise and solved it?

At tick over it does it about 8 times a second and sounds a bit like that noise you get when tree branches creak against each other in the wind. As soon as you raise the revs by even 100-200 rpm the noise stops

my fabia done this. to fix it i put some oil off the dip stick onto my finger, then put oil onto the rubber stoppers that arer on the bonnet. noises stopped . hope this works on octy

Someone at work has suggested vaseline on the rubber seals.

vaseline would be better but i tend not to carry it around with me. it gives people the wrong impression !

Try a propper rubber lubericant as this won't leave a mess on your bonnet for oyu to collect on clothes at a later date.
