Dump valve for Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I hav just ordered my Fabia vRS and am now trying to find out if a dump valve is available fo it. I have tried several places but they seem no help. I know that there is one available for peugeot TD, but have had no luck trying to get a one for the Fabia. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks FabVRS

Welcome.

I don't think this engine uses any form of DV, be it dump - or diverter -. You may, however, want to wait for official confirmation of this.

Happy New Year everyone by the way, have a good night

I don't think the TDi engine can have a dump valve (correct me if I'm wrong). The turbo the TDi PD engine uses has a variable-vane geomtery fan.

When an ordinary turbo's used as much exhaust as it can, it dumps the rest of it via the DV, but with the TDi PD's turbo, it alters the angle of the fan blades to make the most out of whatever gas is in the turbo at the time...

So, not only does it not need a DV, the turbo's a sealed unit, so it CAN'T have one...

AFAIK the dump valve is on the inlet side and it works by releasing pressure when the throttle is snapped shut and the air cannot be dragged into the engine thus gets dumped out the valve. I can't see why you can't fit one unless the who engine is sealed up but then again I am not 100% on diesel turbo's. Saying that if I did have a dump valve fitted to the car I would get a recirculating one as they are more efficent and you don't get a loud hiss as you change gear.

Diesel engines run on a vacuum, which is why if it has a dump valve on a turbo, it has to be electronic as they are sealed for that reason.

There you go alot different than a petrol version.
