Nikon D50

Featured Replies

Have had a Nikon D50 for a few months now, have the 18 to 55 mm lens and have just bought a 55 to 200mm lens. Have also got a UV and polarizing filter. Question, is it adviseable to use the UV filter at all times??????

I am off to Westeren Austraila, end of October for 3 week tour...........any skoda's in oz??????????????????:)

one pic of the cat........well why not

I bought a UV filter for my D50, but after talking to a few camera people, the only purpose they serve on a digital camera is to better protect the lens. I've yet to take identical shots with/without the filter to test, but I tend to leave mine on all the time and it's not caused any problems :D

Which 55-200mm lens did you opt for? :D

Thanks for that..........the lens i went for was the nikkor AF-5 DX 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED. i know it was expensive, but it is the same make as camera, and thought would play safe, more money than sense maybe??????.

I have taken a few shoots with it, and it appears good, still think it will cme into its own in Austrailia..............just have to get a spare battery for the camera, but will get a Jessops own make one,

The UV filter should help stop the sky and the sea from getting washed out to white on your photos.

If in doubt, try it and see!

As above but the main function os to protect the lense from dust etc and in case it get's dropped.
