Cars.... are they worth it ???

Featured Replies

As some of you are probably aware from the below thread;

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/general-car-chat/arhhhhhhhhhhhh-b0llocks/55810/?highlight=Saab

I'd been landed in a pretty crap situation regarding my Saab 93 Sports Saloon a month and a half ago. Well after a fair bit of crap dealing with my insurance company my car went in to get repaired last Teueday. Great I thought, in a weeks time I'll have it back all good as new and I can carry on enjoying the superb Saab Turbo performance that the car has........ How wrong I was :(

Basicaly, despite being caught on CCTV and admitting to the Police that they did the damage to my car the **** (pardon the French by the way, and that's no insult to any French members on here its just an English phrase) who did this is now swearing blind they did not cause the damage. The result.... I have had to start legal processes via the legal cover on my insurance to;

a) Retain my NCB

B) Get my excess back and...

c) Screw anything else I can out of the sod for the crap they have caused me over the past month and a half......

Ok, you think... apart from that what's the problem? Well my insurance is due for renewal on the 23rd of this month, and because I have an unresolved claim aginst my name the ****ing insurance comapany have knocked me back to 1 years NCB (I know, lesson learnt about protacted NCB :rolleyes: ) and asked me to pay

Life sucks doesn't it! Hopefully it'll all be sorted out before the next insurance renewal and you can enjoy performance motoring again :D Hopefully there'll be a 2.0 Fabia in the 2007 model range! :D

Chris

Simple, you just say you didn't do it...... you may be proved wrong, in the end, but it takes at least 6-9 months before you are proved a lieing scum bag and suffer and financial consequences.

What a pain in the ar$e! I feel for you mate, but glad you're at least remaining positive. How these people are able to cause this amount of inconvenience is beyond me :mad:

Its just one of those things isn't it..... at the end of the day (when you consider things) they are lumps of metal that sit on the drive, the majority of the population don't give a dam about them.... Some would say types like us are in the wrong for making such a big deal over cars.......

For me I've always looked after my cars and cherished/enjoyed them because after the house they are the next most expensive thing you own etc....

Just because we cherish cars more than Joe Average is absolutely no excuse for what happened in your case.

I see where you're coming from, and that's the best outlook for you to move forward from, but even so!

Steve

Know exactly how you feel mate after my own incident early in the year. Spent a month thinking 'just **** it' and give up on cars altogether.

Hope it is all resolved, and try not to stress when your pressing numorous numbers on phones and getting no where with insurance call centres... thats the thing that nearly broke me.

Good luck.

Tell me about it :rolleyes:

Hi my name is John and I'm an alcha...... alcho....... b0llocks, can't even spell it !!!!!!!!!

Just out of interest, how many years ncd did you have before this started? Being knocked back to 1 year seems a bit harsh. I work in insurance (should I admit that? lol), and if you make a fault claim you lose 2 years ncd... Did you have 3 years? Or more? Just curious really.

Cars are not worth the hassle and expenses we fork out. If only public transport was decent! I could go on far more holidays a year and Afford to buy my first house.

What an idiot I am to buy a car! :(

I try not to think about the cost of running a car! Logically, having a nice car (and modifying it) definitely isn't worth it.

But it's not about logic and we do it anyway.

Then some scumbag comes along and damages it :mad:

Sorry to hear about your car and I hope it all gets resolved.

Gutted for you. I'm sure you will win the claim just fine, and all will end up rosey(ish).

I'm seriously considering selling my car, I have no idea when I'm going to be able to drive again, its just not worth it really.

I wish I didnt love cars, in particular tinkering them.

My boss drives a 1.3 CDTI Corsa, and makes a fortune on company mileage etc - its totally reliable with 20k service intervals. I'd be a good £300 a month better off! :rofl:

If you like your cars you just can't help your self. Had the day off work, spent the entire day washing and cleaning out the Megane, then went off down to the local Renault dealer and got a posh new set of car mats for it :doh:

That situation sucks! I hope you win! I know what yu mean tho about cars , Id be loaded if I had never had a car , or just bought a cheap new one and ran it till it failed its MOT , then bought another cheap new one and ect ect instead of getting car after car after car just coz im enthusiastic about them , its like a disease!!

Just what i was thinking! :rolleyes:

Had 3 years, due to a period when I had a lease car through work...... so yes this incident knocked me back 2 years NCB
