Head-unit dilemma

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've finally said good bye to my old Peugeot 306 and bought a Black Magic Fabia VRS, I'm a very happy man indeed.

My dilemma is....do I pay

Changing the headunit is a piece of cake, should take 5 mins top. The connection on the back is the same as any other car stereo. Simply remove the connections and plug into the new stereo. For the fabia you will need a simple fit facia adapter from the main dealer. Dont get the halfords one, its more expensive and doesnt fit that well.

No, its quiet easy. IIRC there are 2 thin slots, you just need to insert the removal keys into these and pull. You can either DIY the keys (use strips of an old credit card or a couple of jigsaw blades) or buy them from halfords for a couple of quid.

Mannyo is right, when I had my fabia, it was a doddle to replace the HU, Remove the glove box first for extra cable fettling room, 5 torx screws iirc, then you need either 2 junior hacksaw blades or a set of kenwood keys from halfrauds and bob's your uncle.

It really is a quick job and there is no need to cough up for someone to fit it m8.

Get the Skoda infil panel as well, much cheaper than the autoleads, and the autoleads one is a rattley pile of poop
