Shocks, (Shock Absorbers)

Featured Replies

Another newbie question

Just bought a Y reg 1.4 Fabia - 45,000 miles

The shocks on the near side of the vehicle seem to be "on their way out" plus a little noisy over pot holes etc

Are they easy to fit - any good mail order part suppliers around, (cheaper than the dealers).

Is it best to change them in pairs - ie. both front ones etc.

I have a 1.2 HTP from new with 8,000 - so I can compare the ride quality between the two vehicles

Thanks

You should always change shock in pair ie both fronts , both rears

You are looking at between £30 and £40 for OEM ones IIRC. Try German Swedish & French or Eurocarparts if you have one nearby.

are you sure its shockers making the noise could be the anti-roll bar links at the front , try bouncing the car up/down ,if the shocker is OK , the car should stop bouncing after release in about 1.5 more bounces .the rear shockers are not to bad to do but the fronts will require total dismantling with a suitable spring compressor HTH
