Fantastic Insurance Quote

Featured Replies

I want to get a footing in off road driving and owning a 4x4, so I decide I want to get a T Plate Chevy Blazer to supplement the Octavia. They are around the 4k mark, therefore they are dirt cheap and what I have my eye on.

I rang round a few insurers, 3 of which Refused to give me a quote. The 4th (cant remember the name) Gave me a grand total of

At least you didn't mention you were going to be taking it offroad  I had a Discovery that was remarkably agile off road, comfortable on the road and didn't cost the earth to insure :D

You can do a lot of third party damage in an SUV' date=' and as it's (presumably?) an import the cost of parts to get it repairs could be potentially expensive...

It is a SUV yes, It does weigh about 2000k, so could do alot of damage to a third party, but then so could anything if you drove into something fast enough

...but the larger and heavier it is, the more damage it will do...

The Problem I am having down the phone is that the insurers are convinced that it's an Import. It's a UK Spec car, sold through the Vauxhall network,

I cant beleive these go between 2.8-6k

Hmm...possibly try and find specialist insurance? If you're looking at private ads then you could try phoning the current owner and asking who they insure it with currently...might give you some leads.

It might actually be easier to get an import, as at least then you'll have to insure through someone who deals with imports...and chances are they'll know the cars much more than a disinterested person in a call centre choosing boxes on a computer.

That said it's a group 15 car - it will be expensive to insure!

Hmm, I agree, its no wonder why young lads are driving round without insurance. My last quote for a 1.4 16V Fabia 2001 was over

Buy a Landrover defender 300tdi 2.5

group 3 insurance, and will pi$$ all over a blazer all day long offroad

parts are much easier to get, and most body panels just bolt on!
