Fabia VRS Cruise

Featured Replies

I am very intrested in fitting cruise and have read many of the other threads on here about part numbers and costs to have it fitted.

But i just need some things clearing up.

Does anybody know why the VW loom for the retrofit cruise is now

VW don't sell the loom on it's own anymore. It will come with a suitable stalk, it'll be the Golf TDi kit they are offering you.

thanks that is what i was hoping you might say!!! Excellent it will be ordered tomorrow thanks again

Are you intending to follow my guide?

do you know if this can be fitted to the 2.0 fabia? how much does all the parts cost?

Cruise should be suitable for all but the weediest of engines Tom.

If you intend to use that method then first thing to chek is the ECU plug and ensure you have the 'white' wire already in place. I no longer use this method as I have a different source of parts.

DONT FORGET!

You will need VAG COM to enable it if youre fitting it yourself!

sorry, i havn't read up on this subject yet. "white wire" ????? i though that my car was supposed to have the wiring already installed but just not the right switches/stalks. i thought you could just swap the stalks over have a fiddle with vag-com and hey presto!

Or live close enough to someone with it, eh TeflonTom ;)

i've had a quite look through your installation guide, and it's very good too. trouble is i'm very busy at the moment so i'm not sure when i'll get round to doing it.

when i do i'm sure we can come to some arrangement with possible percuniary insentives with regard to the said use of the aforementioned vag-com

You joining freedom will be sufficent enough to cover my time.

Can you tell I'm on a recruitment drive??

You can enable it at anytime without any problems and in fact this is best practice before you invest in the parts etc.

i was intending to use your method vrstu will this apply with the modified kit that VW are now supplying?????

Yes it will. You will get all of the normal parts, in a box.

You'll need the brown plug etc for XS3.

i'm sorry to ask more questions but??? does it matter where i get the parts from. does it have to be skoda parts or are the vw ones exactly the same but with different part numbers????

what is you different method if you dont mind me asking or is it top secret knowledge

They are both on his site IIRC, one going direct to the ECU (our first method) the other using the std wiring to the T10 plug on the bulkhead and going from there.

I used VW(Golf) parts & followed Stu's excellent instructions.

If you do decide to use the VW parts (stalk & loom) you will have to buy the extra brown connector & additional wires for socket XS3 as mentioned on Stu's site. I started the job but I had forgotten to get these parts and so I had to wait a couple of days for them to arrive before I could complete it. :o

Otherwise it's fairly straightforward if you have the correct tools, a bit of tech knowledge & VagCom.
