Headlight Problems

Featured Replies

went out this evening, had a vew problems with my headlights. they were working fine... i went into a perol station to get a drink, and then when i came out. started up, sidelights fine, but no headlights. also the headlights warning lamp on the dashboard didn't come on. pulled a few fuses. does anybody know the numbering system for the fuse box because it isn't clear?? clecked the bulbs, they were ok. couln't get to the bottom of the problem. so i carried on driving using the fogs, then suddenly after about 5 miles the lights came back on.

stopped about 20 miniutes later for a slash, then it did the same thing again. they didn't come on for about five miniutes.

anybody got any ideas???

i'm thinking dodgey switch or a dodgey relay..

oh and where are the realys? couln't find them. this seems silly but i've never worked on a fabia before.

Doesnt really have a relay, it works through the central electrics ECU (which has a fault memory). Could well be a switch though. Where they pull out for fogs and rotate after a time they can start to break down. Easy enough to pop out though.

how do you et the switch out?? i removed the little bit of trim from the switch area and unglugged the loom from the back of the dimmer/level thingy. i dont want to force this thing to come. but if i cant work out how it comes out amicabably i may have to resort to geurilla dahboard tactics

With the switch in the off position, push it in and turn to the sidelight position. This will release the retaining lugs on the back and it should pull out.
