Focus St

Featured Replies

Today i was lucky enough to drive Superchips Ford Focus ST running around 260bhp, mild compared to others i have seen...Now as an ex Ford employee of some 9 years i must say this car rocks, it puts the power down lovely, not to much torque steer like my octy and boy does it go. we had it in at work to take the exhaust off so me old mate Pat @ Primary designs could jig it ready for a new sports cat and system.

All in all a cracking drive and i for one would be very tempted as the tunability and reliability of the Volvo lump is quite good, not sure about the Orange colour though.

If you get the chance take one out you may be surprised.

Phil

With the pricing of the new VRS it does seem a good alternative, gotta love the sound of anything other than an in-line four!

just watch for turbo probs whilst running the superchips ,Bluefin? i've heard of turbos going pop , i also saw a very badly installed uprated intercooler the other week , no turbo boost due to 2 of the hoses hardly being long enough to fit between the intercooler and the throttle body and allowing the pressure to leak

This one seemed ok as its Superchips demo car (Bluefin)....I know Pat has fitted other turbos to them but as he says 260 is about right anything more and it cant handle it, nice car though

Pat also tells me he`s doing a nice line in IHI turbos as well, just trialling one on an Ibiza...I`ll keep you all informed

Its a common mis-conception.. the engine isnt the "bombproof" volvo one... it has a narrower-weaker block... only good for circa 280-300bhp without needing internals..

But i agree, its a cracking car, the engine noise is lovely..

The Octy 2 vRS's isn't bad, either, considering it's "just" an in-line four! :P

Sounds just like any other boring inline 4 to me :P:rofl:

I was REALLY surprised at how good it sounds. After all the reviews said that it was muted and "a different beast to the Golf's", I was prepared for a standard 4 cyl engine note.

BOY was I surprised! Mine really growls (see avatar!) when you're driving along normally! Sounds fantastic above 4500 too, where it takes on an almost supercar quality!

Exhaust emits a really nice burble too, esp when you're backing off the revs...
