Starting a 2.0TDi after 3.5 Weeks

Featured Replies

Just returned from Holidays amd had trouble starting my Octy.

Battery was fine, full electrics but on turning the key it just turned over but didn't fire up, seemed like fuel starvation but had half a tank, tried it a couple of times then just kept the key turned, but no joy and red oil pressure warning light came on. Turned off left it a minute or two and tried again, with same results.

Was just about to call Skoda, but thought I'd give it a third and final go and after a bit of turning over 15-20 seconds it fired up, misfiring at first but then got hold. So I took it for a run for a half hour and everything is fine, and has been since.

Now my question is is this common with diesels that have been left and how are you meant to start them in this situation, only ever had petrols up to getting my Octy.

TIA

Left my 2.0 Tdi for 6 weeks while I was away. Started first touch on return, so you might want to get it checked out.

Oh good not what I wanted to hear, anyway must be due a service soon as on 37K and last service was at 19K IIRC.

Thanks I'll get it checked out.

We have a A4 TDI quattro in work with the same problem.. altho its over a couple of days itll not start on the key..

My guess is a faulty fuel pump in the tank... so the fuel system doesnt get primed before the car starts (i could be wrong lol)
