Help Needed!!!

Featured Replies

Hi all:) A friend of mine went to test drive a Golf GT TDI 150 tonight. Firstly he heard a very light air/sucking/wooshing kind of noise. To start with this was hardly noticeable, however, 3 or 4 mile into the test drive, on hard (ish) acceleration, the noise became very loud (air/sucking/wooshing) and the car lost all power:thumbdwn:  He had to limp the car back to the garage. What could this be?? The garage couldnt apologise enough (should bloody thinkso too!!!!), saying it would be repaired if he still wanted to buy the car!!!! If this noise was evedent before, what damage could it have caused if the previous owner drove it around without noticeing??? I've told him to forget it but he's wanting to know what the problem is first. The car is a 02 reg with 50,000mls on the clock. Any help would be very much appreciated!!

Sounds like a possible boost leak, maybe a pipe split or blown off?

Have i posted this in the wrong Forum or is it that no one knows what the problem may be???

 I agree. It could be serious enough financially if there's a faulty turbo but it's not an engine overhaul or anything. If it was a serious mechanical fault with the oily bits you would know about it.

Yep agree, sounds like one of the pipes has just popped off. Should be trivial to fix if that is the only problem .... maybe he should tell the garage he's still interested and ask what the problem was? He may even get a good discount on it lol!!!!
