Radio removal & mobile connection

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone please advise me?

My user manual suggests that a mobile phone can be made to play through the car's speakers - I thought maybe I could wire an mp3 player into the radio using the same connection(s).

Also can anyone tell me how to remove my radio/single CD player unit? It has a couple of narrow vertical slots beneath preset buttons 1 and 6, and an open box beneath the unit which looks like it could be prised out, but I don't want to experiment and risk damaging anything.

I have a vRS, though I guess it would be the same for other Fabia variants.

Many thanks

Welcome to Briskoda, old Codger

The Symphony CD player you get in a Fabia vrs is removed by inserting the removal keys into the two vertical slots.

There are cables from www.bluespot.co.uk which allow plugging in an external unit such as an mp3 player, but people have had trouble with them before I think... Maybe do a search in the ICE section :)

Thanks for your advice, guys! The ICE section has plenty to offer, tho' no evidence there that the bluespot cable does work. Cable should plug in OK. Seems to come down to whether the HU needs a data signal input to make it think it has a CD changer attached. I'd like to know anyone who has made it work with the standard Symphony unit.

Tried the cut up credit card method to remove HU - the strips seem to locate OK but unit won't budge when they're inserted - plucking up the courage to put some more muscle into it!

I'll report back when I've removed it, broken it etc

Push the 'tool' in just enough to push the latch.

Gently lever the edge of the redio with something and it should come out. I have the cupholder on the left of mine and I normally just drop that down to lever it out.
