A big hello to all on this forum.

Just joined the forum, as we have a skoda fabia 1.4 16v elegance.

Owned the car now for about 3.5yrs and the car have been trouble free.

UntilNow..

Its just started to play up.. first the alarm went on and off, than the windows started to play up.

Driver's window control started to operate the passenger side and visa versa.

Finally the central locking stopped altogether with the remote.

To top this up the power streering light now comes on and off intermittently , the AC is no longer producing cold air, the rear washer is not working and last but not least the reversing lights stopped working as well.

But hey the car still drives real smooth :)

Hi

These are common faults.

Rear washer pipe come off and making the alarm go off.

Could be why the reverse lights not working too as the water goes in to the electics.

Pop off boot trim and reconnect pipe.

Windows and the C/L are controled by the convenience system.Sounds like that has gone down.

Steering light could possibly be the angle sensor. If it is it requires a new one.

Try a call to Skoda Customer Care on 0845 7745 745 as I think the sensor is covered in to a 4th year of warranty , ask nicely they may help with the convenience system

Hi Sarah / Giilywibble,

Thanks for the welocme.

Sarah Thank you very much for your input.

Have been spaeking to a local Skoda dealer, who also has advised that the convenience control unit will need to be replaced. :( Also said that this is not cheap.

The car is on a W plate, and is 6years old, so no warrenties left.

I'll let you know know how things go..thanks again

They just advised to take the car to a service dealer to have it checked out.

Tried to tell them what the fault were, but they were not intrested and said that car is 6 years old and out of warrenty.

Oh well it was worth ago, car is booked in fo rthe 25th. Wil keep you posted.

Hi Sarah,

Got my car back , the garage replaced the CCU, and reprogramed the ECU and both the keys.

Also said that the power sterring sensor is faulty as is the switch on the gearbox that controls the reversing lights. Didin't have parts to fix, so have ordered these up. Waiting for them to call me once they have them in stock.

Seems to be driving ok, but power steering feels real light, its like driving on ice.

Thanks for all your advise though

Hi Kam

As you said , it was worth a try.

The power steering IIRC can be controled by the ECU so could be turned down a bit.

But I am used to my light power steering now and would not have it any other way.

My CCU was acting up the other day.

Tried to put drivers window down and the passengers went down instead.

But hey for what it costs I will put up with it.

All OK now , the worst thing about knowing what the fault is , is that I know the price of them

Still see what comes of it , good luck mate

Sarah,

The window fault was how it all started on my car.. the bill came to £320, but this has been the only major fault that has happend in 4yrs.

All the best to you and hope all goes well.

Kam

But hey if that is all that has happened , then like you said its not too bad.

Take care

Sarah
