Different size Tyre's.............

Featured Replies

Soon I will need new front tyres for the Furbie vRS......I run 215/40/17 all round, the rears are hardly worn but the fronts will need replacing soon. In my garage I have 2 almost new Uniroyal Rain masters but they are 205/40/17/......Can I run these on the front and the 215's on the rear???.....I have read in motor mags that some cars have different size tyres front/ rear......Any Advice..........Andy

Might cause issue with the ABS, not a good idea really. Depends largely on the difference in circumference,

Thanks Ross................Not worth the risk.........I'll get 2 new ones the same size....Andy ..:)

Check out the tyre calculator in the Freedom section!

the law states that the tyre sizes must be tha same on the same axle, but you can have different sizes on the fronts and different sizes on the rears (like the lotus elise ect) perfectly legally, just up to you to make sure you don't mess up your speedo reading too much ;)

True but if you have different rolling radi then the ABS will pick up different wheel speeds front to rear which will confuse it.

The Elise doesnt have ABS iirc, and if it does it wil lbe programmed to have different wheel sizes and will expect a different speed front to rear.
