740 Miles From A Tank???

Featured Replies

Filled up after doing an mpg test (averaging 77.2 trip, 75.1 real) which was basically a long motorway trip at 70mph (clock). After putting 41litres in (trip said 5 miles left) the car reported a range of 740 miles

Anyone's Furby reported more?

It lies!

I think it assumes how many miles you have left on your current average MPG. I'll be amazed if you get 700+ miles from a tank :)

I would be amazed on 700 miles on a tank but i think it could be possible!!!

I'm trying - got 72 on way to work today...

I recon, in theory, 700 is possible. Fill the expansion tank and travel non-stop @70-75 with little change in speed and 700 is do-able. Though in real life this is never going to happen.

I have got very close to 600 with lots of motorway miles and a bit of fun and town driving...

Next Switzerland trip I shall try it...

My average mpg, even when 64 mph con cruise I cannot get more than 50mpg.

In 2000 miles my mpg is stuck at 40.1mpg.

Does not make a diffrence if remmap is on or not. I think I am useless at driving diesels

My average mpg, even when 64 mph con cruise I cannot get more than 50mpg.

I've always found not using cruise helps boost my average. For example, where I live is quite hilly so setting the cruise at 70mph, the car will be doing a lot of work (and using a lot of fuel) to maintain that 70mph. If I'm in control, I can decide that I don't need to be doing 70mph up the hill so I can maintain part throttle, or I can build up a bit more speed on the down-hill sections to help me "coast" up the hill. :D

Yeah, Mr Cruise has lead boots!

The fun never stops in your life eh?

I averaged about 38mpg on my remaped vRS, no motorway miles just driving around MK.

I get low 20's in the MR2, but its hell of a lot more fun ;)

Also Cruise accelerates and de-accelerates all the time trying to maintain speed. Also the remap wont be helping Emily (I think). On a long motorway drive I can easily get high 50's, maybe creeping mid-60's...

100 mile round trip a day means I've got lots of time to do these little experiments. :(

Driving like a child loses it's appeal when you finally realise that it makes virtually no difference on the majority of our roads at rush hour, except increasing cost and likelyhood of accidents :thumbdwn:

Agreed! :(

70+mpg out of a Fabia vRS...?

I can get 60 average on slow a-roads, but at 70 on cruise its normally mid 50's... to get an extra 20 makes me suspicious...

The car has a dragon box on to help with fuel economy

Edit: Can we upload mp4 files to our gallerys? I'll do a trip comp video on my phone.

Ahh - nail hit on the head...

Dragon will tell the ECU the fuel is colder, and therefore will believe you are using less of it, hence the higher figure. If you worked mpg out the old fashioned way you might be disappointed. :)

I got 55MPG on a jolly down to Cornwall last week. I average around 49 daily.

yeah i think my trip computer is a tad out

i can get 86 mpg quite easily from driving like a granny in my vrs, i doubt very much its anywhere near that in reality but i always forget to reset my trip computer to work it out the old fasioned way

What size is the tank in the Fabia?

My mate regualarly gets 900 miles out of

45 Litres?

Costs £40 to fill it up... Give or take...

Hello out there

Yellow Fabia VRS -

I have manged 640 out of mine on a mixture of town and Motorway - might have been more but had to put a couple of Boy Racers in there Place on the way hme from work which doesnt help the consumption

Sorry but these range figures have to be inflated. I recently brimmed up my tank on my drive through France (at night) 70mph virtually all the way down to Bordeaux, no traffic, cruise used 80% of the time and my max range was 520. Plus their motorway's are far better than ours

I cannot see how 620-700 is possible. In terms of MPG for those that have diesel car's we all like to rub in the MPG figures and inflate them so the Petrol users feel jealous, I should know I've done it myself.

Nope. I get 550 regularly with my 50 mile a day motorway commute. Its a style of driving, but 550 is easy when brimming tank (expansion and all)

what a sad life some people lead, life is about living not watching every penny.
