Chipped vRS

Featured Replies

I bought my Octy 1 vRS about 5 months ago from a Skoda dealer in Scotland. When I test drove it, I didn't see any problems with it so took it away. Over the next couple of weeks I noticed the car was hunting a lot when at lights. I also found the acceleration to be very jumpy and not smooth through the power band. I put it back to a garage twice and they changed the MAF meter and a couple of other things but to no avail. They did, however mention that it was extremely fast for a standard vRS and suggested I got it checked out.

I put the car on a rolling road and it came back with 202 BHP and 237 ft/lbs of torque. I spoke to the garage and they want it back to set it back to factory settings etc. I want them to switch the car out with another. I don't know any history of this car and who has chipped/re-mapped it.

I was wanting a standard car so that I could do the chipping etc and follow its progress myself. Do any of you know if I have any rights when it comes to getting them to swap the car out? Do I just have to settle for them getting it back to factory settings?

I have also noticed a very prnounced squeak from the rear suspension not sure what this is either?

Was it specifically sold as being in standard condition? If not, you may not have any come back after 5 months.

Also, if it doesn't break any forum rules, which dealership was it?

It was sold to me as a standard car. It was advertised as 180 BHP.

Don't think it's my old one - that really wasn't standard :D

The bhp is down from what I'd expect from a remapped vRS (mine was 216bhp after its first remap), although the torque figure is good.

Mine was putting out 188bhp on the rollers pre remap.

It was sold to me as a standard car. It was advertised as 180 BHP.

I'd say it's "not as described" then. Suggest getting proper advice from your local Trading Standards or CAB.

speaking from experiance take it back!!...it will only end in tears later!!

k:)
