Does anyone know whether it is possible to adjust the struts on the tailgate of an octavia estate? The tailgate on my car slams down very hard unless you hold onto it and let it down. There is no problem with it holding the tailgate up, and there is resistance when initially pulling the tailgate down.

Any help appreciated.

Either they have improved them or yours are shot, as my MKII is fine, look at new struts from dealer or euro car parts etc?

As far as I know they are not adjustable.

Mine never had this problem until I had one replaced under warranty because it was leaking. Now it is quite difficult *not* to slam the hatch :(
