headlamp washers

Featured Replies

Hi folks, How can I tell if the headlight washers are working.

according to my manual I have them installed and on the front

bumper there are rectangular "blanking type plastic things" below

the lights. I guess they pop out and spray fluid on the lights when

certain circumstances apply. i.e. going at 60mph and the screen

wash is applied. I tried this and stopped the car to see if it worked

but nothing. Anyone know how to test them.!!!!!

Lights on, wash windscreen.

They dont operate every time though.

i think the headlight washers only operate every fifth scoot of the windscreen washers.

No need to stop the car and check if they worked, you will know when you have got them working because you will see the water spray shooting over the bonnet and around the front wings.

...then when you bring the car to a stop, get out and have a look, you've got screenwash foam all over the wings and door mirrors. Just happened to me!

I thought you might be able to pop them out so you can adjust the spray jets.

Most of all I just want to see them working.... cos I love gadgets.

They are powered by water pressure so only pop out when operated.

So you don't have to be doing a certain speed then. All I need to do is put lights on and use washer device.

Cheers ....

Don't try and pull them out. I did, and then spend the next half hour getting very wet trying to put the plastic plate back onto the washer head.

Just as long as he doesn't get his own back on you by doing the same thing when your head is under the bonnet.........

......THAT hurts!

Though they go every fifth squirt, they seem always to go on the first one after a break - at night you definitely see the spray in the headlight glare above the front of the wings.
