Nexus/ MFD2 Sat Nav

Featured Replies

Just swapped my Stream head unit for a MFD2 Sat Nav unit.

Does anyone know how to change the user language? Also, does anyone have the user manual (or have a link to it) as a PDF?

I didnt get a manual with mine but im sure ive seen a language menu when ive been playing with settings. Ill have a look tomorrow if no one beats me to it.

Picking mine up on Friday will scan and convert to pdf if you are still having problems.

Re - changing language on sat nav unit -

Turn unit on and insert the nav disc - (the disc must be in the unit in order for this to work) -

Press the navi key -

Press set up (lower right corner) -

Press system settings (lower left corner) -

you are now in language settings.

Hope this helps.

Just swapped my Stream head unit for a MFD2 Sat Nav unit.

Been thinking about doing that myself. Where did you get the MFD2 from and dare I ask how much? Also how does it sound compared to the Stream?

I have the Nexus, and it sounds pretty cr ap when playing audio CDs. Radio is ok though

Ive seen them on E-Bay for around £350 inc the antenna and the disc. Not sure if theres anything else you need but seems cheap enough.

I've just bought one on Ebay 510€ including delivery (from Poland to Italy). I've got a manual (VW, but it should be the same... ask if you want me to send it) BUT I have no idea of what I need to install it when I remove my Stream radio (which is for sale, btw). Does someone know what I need to buy to install it (adapters, cables etc)???

I got mine off E-bay from Germany for about £350.

Installation is actually simple.

Remove the console trim from around the existing radio (open the ashtray and then carefully pull the trim away. Take care around the top of the radio)

Remove the covers from each corner of the unit. Underneath are the screws fixing the unit to the dash.

Once the screws are removed, the head unit will pull out.

Removing the wiring loom and existing aerial connector is straight forward.

The only problem I had was fitting the wiring back in the dash, but found that removing the small storage box from the top of the dash helped.

I also managed to find a metal support towards the glove box to affix the magnetic GPS receiver.

Reconnect the satnav and then by reaching through the top of the dash, reposition the wiring loom whilst sliding the head unit into the dash.

At this point I'd recommend trying the unit.

When satisfied it's working, tighten the screws.

As the satnav requires a different style console trim, you'll also need to sort a replacement from your dealer.

(Dealer has told me the part number for a car with air conditioning in aluminium effect is 1Z0 858 069 H 2AU. Cost around £15)

Regarding my original question re: a link to a manual try

Hope this is of use.

Do you still get the read outs for Cimate Temp. and Parking sensors on the MFD2 ?

I am thinking of replacing my current stream radio but dont want to lose the functionality i already have

No you don't have climate or PDC displayed on the screen.

No you don't have climate or PDC displayed on the screen.

D'oh!

A small price to pay for the satnav though :D

Very very tempting (how can I get it past SWMBO...........)

There is a green illuminated Skoda MFD2 unit on sale right now on ebay.

I really like this feature of on screen display of both climate and PDC... I can see us all fighting over it - a bidding war !

Note: it is a good idea to get the Nav unit delivered to a different address to where the car is kept. I have heard that some people have had it stolen shortly after and suspect the eBay seller. Just be careful.

Let the bidding start !

An excellent piece of advice and often overlooked.

IF I get one i'll have it delivered to my office so they can nick my boss's Audi A6 :P

I am really tempted but I need more info regarding MP3/DAB/DVD connections.

Most of the ones on eBay show rear connections. However, as I dont know what I am looking for or indeed at I cant say !

No one got a proper workshop/manual

The MFD 2 uses the same connection as the stream unit.

It's literally plug and go.

...If you dont have the SoundSystem. I regret that i chose to have

SS with my Stream when i took the car.

With the aid of a wiring diagram and/or a techie there might be a workaround unless the Stream talks to the amp via the Can-Bus.

Hopefully it would be a fixed feed telling it to switch on, if thats the case it would be relatively simple to fudge it via a MFD2 unit.......................maybe.

Amp uses can-bus, so it seems a lot of rewiring, since mfd2 doesnt supply the right commands to amp.

That is the reason you cant buy nexus with soundsystem when you order the car...

If it's a Can-Bus jobbie then you can pretty much forget it. It would be a pig to do.

You could replace the amp withe a more traditional one that uses good old 12 volts to switch on. Rather you than me.:thumbdwn:
