New spare tyre

Featured Replies

I've got to take my car down to my local kwikfit to have one of my tyres checked out to see if it is repairable. It was completely flat today (3000 miles) and the spare is now on in its place.

If its repairable then I'll keep the repaired tyre in the boot.

If however I need a new one then do I get if I can an identical replacement tyre in my case a Bridgestone Turanza 205/55R16 or should I, as intend when the tyres are eventually worn out (some years ahead as I am fairly low mileage c 7kpa) go for something else eg Michelin (which I had on my old Cavalier). The Bridgestones I find comparatively noisy and so would replace them once their life is up and go onto Michelin.

Based on my experience with the Cavalier I would go for the Michelin now as when I scrapped the car after 15 years it still had its original spare in the boot! However the Octavia is less than 6 months old and already one tyre may be kaput.
