Hello, You're barred!

Hi all, have'nt got my Skoda yet, pick it up this Friday, a 56 plate Fabia VRS in black with cruise and 6cd auto-changer. Dropped my cover note in yesterday and saw it lurking in a corner. Was a bit shocked to see the standard cd player and no cruise, have been assured thay will be fitted before i pick it up. I thought they would have sourced one with the bits i wanted already in it? What is the recommended running in period? This is my first ever brand new car! And it will have to last me a while so i want to treat it gentley, although i've heard that treating it too gently in the initial few thousand miles can result in it never being run in properly and using a lot of oil. Also do they give you a litre of oil when you pick it up, to top up between servicing, if not, what oil do they use. (My mums Beetle came with a litre of oil as VW's do tend to use a bit till they have 30,000 miles or so on them and the VRS engine is the old golf GT TDI engine)

Am getting quite exited now, cant wait for Friday, and even though i do 2,000 miles a week at work, im planning places to go next weekend to put afew miles on the clock. The missus cant wait either, although she does love her little 1.1 saxso, i dont, as im 6 feet tall, she's 5 nothing, so sharing the driving in the Fabia should be a lot better. She would not drive my last car, a Fiat Coupe 20V turbo, as she could not reach the peddles properly and i am uncomfortable driving the saxso for any length. Right, i've waffled on for long enough, you now know my life history so i'll end it here, if you wadded through it all, many thanks, hope you've not lost the will ti live. Cheers S.

Oil: Mine has used about 1/2 litre of oil in the last 8000 miles.

VW's do tend to use a bit till they have 30,000 miles or so on them
RUBBISH!

Running in: First 500 miles no more than 3000 rpm. After that take it steady for the first 1000 miles

Dont get that bit? Slippery slope?

Dont get that bit? Slippery slope?

The slope of modifications, you start at the top with a standard car, then as you change things it gets steeper and seems never ending.
