De-cat

Featured Replies

I pick my Fabia Vrs up in 2 weeks time and am no looking into all the tuning! I have already decided it will be chipped using one-click and i know what suspension and wheels i am getting. My next question is can it be de-catted and how much Bhp will this free up? Also would it be better to get it chipped after the de-cat if one is available.

Thanks in advance.

nobody knows how much power a decat will make yet. and if your going for oneclick, it wont really matter which you do first, as oneclick is a generic map.

I am having the one-click custom mapped. sorry should have specified!

ahh, ok then. yes, get the decat first then :)

will be good to see the results, as golf tdis with milltek exhasts usually get almost 200bhp :)

so by de-cating it's likely to decrease the Bhp? is a sports cat any better?

I think it only decreased on one particular car didnt it?

Im not sure if you can get diesel sports cats, they are a two way cat rather than a three way cat that is fitted to petrols, they have a slightly different chemical make up.

We usually have good results with a diesel decat, dont expect 10 bhp but it does allow the turbo to spin up quicker.

Im trying to dig out some before and after plots to display.

Ross, do you agree with de-catting then getting the custom remap with one-click? is this the best way to do it?

If you want to get a de cat made up then i'd say yeah go for it.

Shouldnt cost much as there isnt alot to the Fabia vRS exhaust (only CAT plus one box). The CAT is part of the downpipe. Probably the best way to de CAT would be to remove the downpipe and cut out the CAT and weld a joining bit of pipe in place.

However when we do the PD Golf decat we also fit a larger bore exhaust from the 1.8T petrol Golf and add a 4 motion rear valance. The Milltek decat pipe is one piece with a propper flange on it to bolt onto the turbo, it aslo is a larger bore to match the system.

Hope this helps

Diesel cats are more of a particulate filter, to lower the amount of crap going into the air rather than a proper converter used in petrol engines. You will still get the extra power, but i doubt it will be as much as a petrol de-cat.

Maybe we should start a "milltek for Fabia vRS/Ibiza TDi130/Polo GT" thread.. so people can register an interest

Hmm interesting stuff. I too was going to look into getting a de-cat pipe made up but now i'm not to sure.

hi i am new on the form. just picked my furby a week ago.i thought de-cating the furby will make more of the black stuff out of the exhaust?

if you can de-cat it. where can you get the pipes from? or you have to custom?

thanks for all your help
