 just saw 2.0 and clicked.

i think us 2.0 owners need to stick together!!:D

after all, the vrs only had a car length on us both leon. so that extra 15bhp in the diesel only gives you a car length extra!!!

AAAAHHH!! Now I get it so there is question over the vRS and 2.0 then!

your going from a octavia vrs- to either a 2.5 superb ... or a 2.0 fabia:eek: thats a huge gap..depends what you want really i think the superb if its going to be your main car and your not fussed about the bigness of one, or the extra 2.5k pricetag but then if you want a nippy runabout the 2.0 makes a great motorway cruiser does it with ease. relaxing and lively at the same time and still average about 38mpg :)

Basically there's a debate about if the 2.0 is quicker or as quick as the vRS. The answer is it's marginally slower but not by much at all. There is only 15bhp in it at the end of the day. If it were two vRS with that difference I think people would agree the difference would be minimal, however with vRS being the flagship model people want to believe it vastly superior. Now if we we're discussing handling I think that'd definately be in the vRS's bag.

Sorry...I sold the Octavia about 6 months ago and bought an Almera as a gap filler as I needed the money due to a new addition in the family.

Now i have some money for a better replacement. I've been offered a good P/X at the dealer as he's a mate hence my indecision!

We've got a 1.6FSI Octavia 2 as a family car though

vrs is based on ambient spec;) the elegance 1.9tdi/2.0 is the flagship model:)

vrs is based on ambient spec;)

Same with the Mk1 Octy, the vRS spec is somewhere between Ambiente and Elegance specs...

Rob.

Sorry!!! Flagship model interms of desireability and performance then. ;-p

getting personal now! eh?

Don't make me punch below the belt!!! :P

im off to bed!:chicken:

Same here, obviously not the same bed though!

. Now if we we're discussing handling I think that'd definately be in the vRS's bag.

the 2.0 has the same 20mm fron anti roll bar as the vrs, and although it higher the dampers have the same damping rate plus the 2.0 engine is lighter, i think having driven both handling wise it's even stevens i'm afraid!

I give up.... I wasted all this money on a vRS, if I'd thought about it I'd have bought a 2.0. What a fool I am!

Does that explain why I was all over Leon's rear bumper through cheddar then?? Or is it because his is an estate?

Driving a 2.0 estate must have turned Leon into an old man ;)

You should have tried keeping up with me Will and Emily - damn that road is good fun :D My brakes were a bit hot at the end of that one run though

If you have an addition to the family, and your choice is the Furby 2.0l & the Superb 2.5. , and the furby vRS is too expensive, wondering why the vRS is being discussed as an option.

To keep your additions safe + extra baggage involved and yourself in comfort, there is only one option, it has to be the Superb.

IMO the vRS is a better package overall in terms of everything people have said before, but then it ought to be costing ££££ more than the 2.0. The 1.4 TDi/1.9Tdi 100 ought to be considered also as potential purchases, cheap to run, nippy and enjoyable.

you stalled!!!:P  hehe! and the fact that...oh yeah you stalled!!! though emily maneged to stall her vrs on the m5:eek: !!! some people:rolleyes:

my 2.0 fabia averages around 40mpg when driven cautiously, or around 16mpg driven enthusiasticaly, and as for the performance against a vrs, there's virtually nothing in it.

 Nothing in it!!!

What planet are you from??!!!!!  Hilarious!!;)

I stalled on the M5 - IN TRAFFIC! I stall quite a lot because I find my leg aches because the clutch is heavy in the vRS.

This is all such non sence, because my car is GOD!

 Nothing in it!!!

i saw you there:D
