Fabia 2.0 Elephant Pants!

Featured Replies

As well as a Superb I've been looking at a 2.0 Fabia Elegance.

I know little about the engine. Is it thirsty, gutless or a waste of time.

I used to have a 1.4 MPI abiut 3 years ago.

Are they worth it or better off getting somrthing else...The spec seems very good none the less

Sorry bud...not been here for a while!!!

Well it will almost keep up with the Fabia vRS (this has been confirmed just this weekend) but is obviously more thirsty! I'm sure some 2.0 owners will be able to assist in your query!

Seems pretty pointless to me as the 1.9 PD Diesel does up to 60mpg and has more power / tuning potential than the petrol.

my 2.0 fabia averages around 40mpg when driven cautiously, or around 16mpg driven enthusiasticaly, and as for the performance against a vrs, there's virtually nothing in it.

My vRS averages around 50mpg if driven sensibly (part M-Way part town), 40 if thrashed.

Seems pretty pointless to me as the 1.9 PD Diesel does up to 60mpg and has more power / tuning potential than the petrol.

that isn't true! the tuning potential of both engines is very good

I'd love a vrs but cheapest at my dealer is

Yup, sad thing about the n/a petrol engines is the ability to wander in somewhere like Jabba and three hours later you've got 45-50 more bhp, with no other mods. :) The TDI simply has more off the shelf potential, unlike the 2l which needs a decent turbo kit costing ??? £3000+??? to start getting that kind of tuning potential.

Wonder if £500 could be spent on a 100 shot NOS kit? :D Might be quicker then, but not for very long.

I'm only keeping it standard though...my tuning days are gone now!:(

I guess the question is does he want to tune it?

If so, what about a 100PD and then a remap? That should see you around 140/150 bhp (I think).

I don't know for sure but I guess the resale value of the 2.0 isn't going to be the greatest.... it's a big engine in a small car and I can't see lots of people rushing to buy that combination. I believe in general the derv Fabia's hold there value better.

So Tom...what is standard output from a 2.0???...I know vRS is 130bhp

Agree Barney..I think Diesel Flubbers hold thier value better..another concern

115bhp from the 2.0

and yes i aggree with Ian about the resale value of the vrs being higher.

Blimey...is that all..my cruddy Almera Sport is 115bhp at the mo!

Perhaps I'm expecting too much!

If you want to buy it and run it into the ground or don't care about resale then go for it! It's a good engine.

Wondered how long it'd take you to find this Leon!
