I stalled on the M5 - IN TRAFFIC! I stall quite a lot because I find my leg aches because the clutch is heavy in the vRS.

This is all such non sence' date=' because my car is GOD![/quote']

You should have tried keeping up with me Will and Emily - damn that road is good fun :D My brakes were a bit hot at the end of that one run though

My brakes are still squeaking!

we have to stop hijacking threads!!!

 Nothing in it!!!

What planet are you from??!!!!!  Hilarious!!;)

what?? i was talking about speed not mpg!!

i think you are going to need a new set of rear brake discs soon em

what?? i was talking about speed not mpg!!

SO WAS I !!!!

Superb without contest IMO. 6 cylinders, better soundproofing, proper climate control, more space, more comfort and judging by the superb at the brisky BBQ recently, no slouch either!

If not, the PD100 Furby is not a bad bet (not biased or anything ;)) - fairly nippy and with some wider wheels on (vRS alloys were my choice) handles easily as well as a standard vRS. Worth noting that although you say you're not going to modify, if there are any distant plans, a lot of the upgrades available for the vRS won't fit the PD100 (and the 2.0L? Dunno if it's the same setup) without heavier modifying, 312mm brakes etc.

have you ever driven a 2.0??

have you ever driven a 2.0??

the only thing thats missing is the sudden pull of the turbo on the tdi, apart from that its almost just as quick. put a full tank of v power in today and its made a noticible difference:) much quieter and more lively and works at about 300rpm lower at the same speed too compared to the 95ron

EDIT:

Oh yes!! I used to own a VW Bora 2.0 Sport. Very nice car but a crap engine.

Rough as hell, slow and drank fuel. The Fabia has the same engine

BTT!!!!

Size isn't my issue as such now. As we have the Octy 2 that is the family wagon. The Superb or the Furby is my car to get me to work and use for work on occassions. This is why I'm struggling to compromise on buying the Superb as then we will have two huge cars. The Fabia just "looks" more logical a solution..but I want MPG and some sort of performance as well!

Both to me look just as expnsive to run as each other besides initial cost

Oh yes mate. Rough as hell, slow and drinks fuel

i didnt say that mate:confused:

Edited my last post

Eh! I may have read it wrong but how would it give the same speed at 300rpm lower?

i think he means that i comes up onto the band power band 300rpm lower.. mine does it too when running on texaco super unleaded. it must be somthing to do with the ignition timing being slightly more advanced running on higher octane fuel.

V power actually has less octane in then 95ron..

I quote:

"Octane ratings for premium gasoline vary across the country. The octane level of Shell V-Power is anywhere from 90 to 93 octane, depending on the region. It

it's not the ron number which is important with petrol.... it's the mon (Motor Octane Number) number that everybody's interested with. the ron number for optimax (or whatever alias it goes by now) is between 90 and 94 with regional variations, but the mon number is approx 104. further more to this the amount of 'octane' in the fuel tells you very little about the fuel except how much they are going to charge you for it!!

it's more to do with detonation resistance, compression ratio, and ignition timing. and a hole mixture of chemicals but generally speaking super unleaded is more volatile so produces a bigger bang than standard unleaded

And what are you so happy about?

;):)

His smile was a 'I know I know my stuff, but Ima be modest and just smile innocently silly man'.

:D

Believe me I heard Tom talking what may well have been quantum physics at the weekend, it all went over my head!!! He certainly seems to know what he's on about with regard to engines.

:D- my smiley wont work:(

It’s important to point out, however, that octane is not the only factor to consider when choosing a fuel. For example, many cars that don’t require higher octane can benefit from the cleaning power provided by Shell V-Power."

Shell V-Power has an octane rating of 99 RON, designed to provide more power and improved responsiveness in many modern cars.

Thats Shell USA! They measure Ron differently to europe, like gallons and billions! V-Power in the UK is 99Ron, its 100Ron in mainland europe and optimax is 98Ron.
