Audi A6 (sure there's an Audi guy on here)

Featured Replies

I'm sure there's an Audi salesman that frequents the forum, or anyone else who has any experience of Audi A6's -

Basically i'm thinking of chopping my Superb in for a new car, on my list at the moment are, in preferential order-

Audi A6

BMW 530d

Chrysler 300c

Merc E-class

I'm just a bit worried about the build quality on the Audi, obviously currently owning a Skoda I am very familiar with the total lack of build quality/reliability that afflicts VAG cars, Does the A6 really share many components?

Or is the old adage that they 'fit parts to Skoda's first to see if they are reliable then to the others when proven' true?

What engine/spec would you recomend?

The car will be used as a private hire taxi, but I want a decent engine, how much difference is there in terms of performance/economy between the 2.7 and 3.0 diesels? is it worth having Quattro? or will that just increase fuel consumption?

What is the best trim level to go for? I want a full sports kit so was thinking the S-Line or is there one that looks more like an S6 (without actually buying an S6). I want sat nav and full leather too.

If anyones got any opinions on the others too i'd be interested to hear them, particularly if anyones got any experience of the chryslers interior build quality.

My Dad has a new A6 s-line and he is very impressed with it. He has the 3.0 PD quattro with the tiptronic box (IIRC all 3.0 PD's are quattro).

Indeed all 3.0 diesels seem to be Quattro, I was just worried about the VAG build quality, are Audi's really any better than Skoda or VW?

I was looking at a beautiful dark grey S-line 3.0 yesterday, only thing it didn't have was full leather (had half leather, half mesh), I would have been very tempted if it'd had the full leather, and the garage had been open!!!

On a side note - I thought only 4 cylinder VAG diesels were PD? i'm sure the V6 TDi's are common rail?

The V6 is a PD, as is the 4.0 and the V10.

S-line interior is usually half leather (my Dad prefers this, reckons its more comfortable).

Hes on his fourth Audi now since I worked at an Audi dealer so I guess he is pretty happy with them. IIRC hes only had one warranty visit back to the dealer with all four cars and that was for a reflash on the A6.

Thats good to know then, I need full leather for it's 'wipe clean' ability!!

He has had..

51 plate Audi A4 2.0 multitronic

52 plate Audi A4 1.8T multitronic

53 plate Audi A4 1.8T S-line Avant multitronic

55 plate Audi A6 3.0 quattro s-line tiptronic

I found the 3.0Tdi S line estate I drove to have a bone shaking ride and lots of rattles from the interior.
