Front Discs TDI Estate

Featured Replies

Had my discs and pads changed all round about 8000 miles ago. Since then I have been through 3 pairs of front discs and probalby a fourth soon.

No one seems to be able to find a problem with the brake mechanism on every change and thats from 2 different kwic fit garages in the country. Luckily there under a limited milage warrenty but its a pain getting it fixed every 3000 miles or so.

The garage that sorted my bairing out said something along the lines of " lead off on the HUB" ????

My origional front diss and pads lasted 96000 miles. ( pretty good I would say )

Any suggestions??

Take it to a garage rather than a fast fit place. You need a mechanic to take a look not a bored tyre fitter.

How are you going through the discs?

brake judder ? sounds like excessive run out on the drive flange , just fixed a Ford Focus at work , that had a set of discs and pads for brake judder but when it came back a month or so later with the judder re-occuring , a run-out check of the drive flange showed 0.3mm run-out on the N/S flange , a new flange and bearing were fitted curing the brake judder

Either that or they are getting to hot due to a brake fault.

Thanks for the suggestions. The fault can be judder through brake pedal and steering wheel movement even under light braking. Its of to skoda to get checked out. Will mention run out when i get there.

Cheers all
