Not Happy With Front Bumper!!

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just got home to inspect the front bumper on my vRS Fabia after Skoda were meant to sort it for the common paint flaking issue. By the looks of it they've just painted over the flakey paint, i can still see where the paint was flaking off from before!!!!  Now, surely they should have stripped the bumper down bare then started scratch??? Is the vRS bumper 2 piece, shouldnt they have rubbed down the affected area to smooth it out??? My wife picked up the car so i'm going to have to go back 2moro to get this sorted out! What have others on here with the same paint issue had done to there bumpers?? I'M MAD:mad:

I dont think they would strip the whole bumper. What they should of done is sand back down the area around the flakey paint till smooth, then prepare, prime and paint the whole bumper

I would have thought it would be a chips away style repair as suggested by Manny. Go back tell them it's not good enough, you want it doing to the same standard as the rest of the front bumper. Dealers, they really take the p__s sometimes, why would they think you'd be happy with something you could have done yourself with touch up paint? It winds me right up!

I had a rear bumper replaced and it was a farce, bodyshop made a complete mess of the bonding and spraying. In the end I got a bumper of off a brand new vRS that had been factory sprayed.

Yeah, thats what i thought!!! Theres flat spots on various parts of the bumper!!! The more i look at it the more angry i get!!! I could have done better if i got a can of Red paint from Halfrauds!!!!

Mines flaking a bit on the right side. But no way is the car going anywhere near the dealers. ;)

Does it look better or worse than before?

Pretty sure on the few i've done they have had new bumpers.

Worse!!! You can still see the flakey paint from before, if you scraped with you finger nail it would come off!!!! There looks to be flat spots on various parts of the bumper where its been rubbed down, but not on the bits that should have been rubbed down!! As i've said, all they've done is spray over the flakey bit!!! Looks terrible:mad:
