Maximum Bhp From 2.0T FSI?

Featured Replies

What do you think will be the MAXIMUM attainable output out of the 2.0T FSI engine?.

I know that a few have pushed the limits of the 1.8T lump to figures well in excess of 350bhp which would suggest that the new engine could achieve more but I'm interested especially from those that have modded the 1.8T as to what your thoughts are on the new one.

How much have you got to spend and how driveable do you want it to be?

The 1.8T can be taken well over 500bhp and then you can add NOS on top.

Sorry I should have made myself a little clearer :o , what I'm talking about is the maximum you can take it to so that you can still use it as an everyday car (if that makes sense  ).

I think 350ish again, to maintain a level of drivability, reliability etc.

Maybe maximum without changing engine internals? The skys the limit if you only retain the block!! There's no reason why it wouldn't be an everyday driver either with modern control systems.

Would be interesting to find out what it's been taken to as of now, bearing in mind the VW and Audi boys have had longer to mess around with it!.

for long term reliablility i reckon 250-300bhp is gonna be your limit. beyond that stronger internals would be needed.

The Audi one that comes from the factory at 240 something has a revised head and larger turbo.

Oettinger offer a 310bhp upgrade package on standard internals.

Why? My 1.8T is estimated to be running way more than that and is used everyday.

I agree, it just comes down to how far you want to go and how much you want to spend.

estimated???

the fsi system is totally different and also it is 16v instead of 20

Yes, estimated, it's not been on a RR.

It's still a 2L turbo, you could scrap the FSI system if you had the inclination. The Evo uses a 2L Turbo 16V look at the power that can be achieved with them.

the biggest bunch of $hite that money can buy

From what i heard from my father about the cars of his youth what you want is a Lotus Cortina ;)

Mind you thats mainly because there was no weight in the cars back then.... or safety equipment and toys either mind.

.........and there's examples out there with 800+bhp. Another example of a 2L Turbo 16V is that found in sierra and escort cosworths.

so what?? you could get that from a 1.8t as well if you spent tens of thoasands of pounds on it. when i was in belgium last year i saw an audi s3 with 750bhp

Exactly, so no reason why big power couldn't be achieved from a 2.0T.

yes but

yes but

nobody mentions constraints on money or spend limits but you both have valid points :)

Hey Eddy, shouldn't your signature be 1.9T now?:D
