1.6 FSI Engine judder when idle

Featured Replies

I have recently bought an Octaiva 1.6. FSI elegance, which is a fantastic car to drive and has a sweet engine.

I have one issue with is, and that is when the engine is idle their is a judder.

The whole car body judders whilst idle and I dont know if this is common with the 1.6 FSI engine.

I have taken is to the dealer and they have replaced a couple of parts, both of which i cant remember. The ECU brought back no fault codes but the judder still exists.

Any info and assistance on resolving this would be great!

I think there is a Flash up date for this fault dealer will know.

hi i bought a 1.6 is well about 4 months ago and i am getting the same problem, i brought it back to the dealer and they found an air leak so there going to replacae all the air intake, i think this might be a weak point with the octavia, its not getting the right amount of air into the mix.

Thanks,

I have booked my octy into the garage on Thursday late afternoon to do some analysis and will ask about the flash update and fuel air mixture.

I have searched long and hard about this problem on the Internet and their is little information on this particular issue regarding the FSI engine.

mine's as sweet as a nut fella on idle, however i've to give it some revs from take off otherwise it sounds like a diesel.

Posted on old Octy site, but just a quick Q.

Any back up to Honest John's claims that the timing belt tensioners fail in the 1.6FSI regularly?

Am seriously considering a nearly new one to replace my old 1.9TDi

Took my car into garage regarding this judder issue, after 3 weeks at the dealers,

a new Flywheel and clutch components I got it back. Their are no fault codes.

Then engine judders when pressing accelerator slightly has gone but when standing idle their is a an engine judder. The body shakes a bit when idling, it idles between 700 and 800 rpm.

I would expect a car to be still when idling, and I have sat in other 1.6 FSI's and the same does not happen

Is their anyone out their that can take a look at this and know the fix?

Took the car back to the garage, the ticking over still causes the body to shake.

The garage have now change the Coilpack and Spark plugs. Still shaking but much less now, and its still at the garage now to have new injectors installed. Hoping this will resolve the issue.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the engine judder? Mine has started doing this and is quite annoying.
