Argh What have i done?

Featured Replies

I got my Vrs on thursday enjoying it very much etc etc. Anyway today i checked my brake fluid etc (unscrewed the lid on it) and forgot to put it on tight enough. The warning lights went crazy when i started driving, beeping at me etc. Anyway i stopped tighted the lid and they went off except for one the ECP light.

Any ideas what i have done?

Yes numpty,

You unscrewed the lid, and left it loose!

Superman, Stuporman!

If this offends you, refrain from posting how stupid you have been:D

If you look ( not too ) closely, there is an indicator level on the fluid reservoir.

You have now covered all the electricery bits in nasty corrosive fluid.

I cant help you with your light issue because I know nothing about cars, but obviously a bit more than you:thumbup:

( Sorry but it's late and I should be in bed:O )

Hey i put the lid back on, just not tight enough! So should i take it to the garage or just ride it out?

Probably best to take it in. Have you checked the level? If this is ok then you should be fine, but it may be worth having the brakes bled, just in case.

A bit harsh sir.

It's very easy to cross thread the lid slightly given the location of the reservoir.

Go to bed and I hope you get up a bit happier!

I would however recommend taking note of the 'corrosive fluid' part of that post ;)

Worth getting that off asap I'd say. Then take it to the dealer probably to check fluid level/top it up I suppose :)

Grumpy next time you are up late and feeling 'Grumpy' do the community a favour and do not log on to the forum, or if you can not show respect to other members on this forum, then refrain logging on PERMANENTLY !!

It is hardly fair to be so dis-respectful to someone due to things they do by accident, or by lack of knowledge about something. People come here to enjoy the support of the forum, and learn and enjoy the company of other skoda owners and to have a laugh.

They do not want to be on the recieving end of your thumb up your backside attitude, if you are always 'Grumpy' then look to yourself, and see why!! Is it your Job, is it your home life?? whatever it is, change the thing that depressing you the most. Or go to your doctor and get some anti-depressants or something.

But a note to Superman: -

Please ignore this one, the majority of this forum is very respectful, and will not give you a unpleasant onslaught of words. Please be patient and stick it out, and keep posting this forum is a great resource of information and overall a great community. I do hope seeing posts in the future from you.

Ok thats all I am going to say, I hope it sinks in !!

Oy sunshine, have you had a sense of humour failure?

You have never met me, don't know me so don't presume about me:finger:

I may have criticised him (imo in a tongue in cheek way ) but I also gave some sensible advice re the corrosive effect of brake fluid.

If you don't like my posts, there is an ignore button.

I hope this helps you remove your head from up your ar5e:D

I'm at work fella:thumbup:

Someone has to be here keeping the wheels of industry in motion ( literally ):D

p.s. why the kisses? have you a secret fetish for blunt hairy ar5ed Yorkshiremen;)

To Superman, Brake fluid is very hydroscopic so taking the top off to look at the level is a really bad idea, like Grumpy says look at the level indicator, or rather if the brakes work then its fine :D Warning light should come on long before level drops to a danger point. Depending on how tight you did put the lid then air may have got in the sytem so as others have said may need bleeding.

How do you know that you have a blunt hairy ar5e? Is the nature of your observation borne from some kind of regional ancient Yorkshire tradition, or do you simply use a mirror?
