2 wheel bearings gone at 40k....

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a LHD (am in Belgium) 2005 Furby VRS with around 40k miles (60k kms) on the clock and both bearings on the right have gone (coincidence?).

Started with the usual noises, but the front one ended up being so bad (whilst the dealer said to 'let the problem progress' to find out what it was) that the whole car would shudder. Talking at speeds above 40mph were impossible due to the noise. Dealer then, finally, 'figured' out the issue.....

Around 2000 miles later, similar noise (bit less noticeable) from the back - wahey, dealer twigged it was another bearing.:thumbdwn:

My driving is brisk, but I always drive with the mechanicals of the car in mind (watch for potholes, rough patches, undulations whilst accelerating...).

Has anyone else had this problem so soon? The dealer said the bearings are the same as in all Fabia's and cannot cope with the torque and bigger wheels than standard.

I am worried that when the warranty is over, so will my supply of 'free' bearings...

that's utter rubbish!

it is a bit strange that two have gone tho,

They are also the same bearings as the SEAT Ibiza Cupra which has 17's s standard so that IS rubbish.

They go on standard MPI's.

Both bearings on the right, that will be the side that's runs close to the side of the road and puddles etc.
