new question about the Power Steering Sensor

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am going to replace my 1.4 16v's Power Steering Sensor this Friday. What I want to know is that whether the new sensor which dealer is going to put on my car is NEW (in terms of design and build), or just a same old (but brand new) sensor that likely to fail in near future?

Thanks

Louis

Hi

In the absence of any better knowledge that someone might post:

When a part on mine went wrong, I found that dealers knew the score on it as it tended to be a part that many cars had needed to have replaced. Perhaps ring a couple of dealers at random and see what they say?

You could have a look in the catalogue here, or give them a call and ask if the part in question has recently been upgraded?

Hi

This is a very common problem.

It is a superceeded part so yes Skoda know about this problem.

It was one that was brought to their attention when the car was all but launched

So it will be the uprated one and should not fail again.

This part was put on to a 5th year of warranty too.

So if your car is under 5 years old it could be free.

Arrr. Mine is 6 year old (X reg), so no luck here. It is good to know new sensor is uprated, I will also check it with dealer to confirm this. Many Thanks.

Wit you there Louis... ours failed after 5years six months!

I have mine to fit this weekend. Does anyone have a nice handy "how to" on this. I'm not sure the actual method of fitting has been covered before, but I'm too time pushed at work to go rummaging. :D

Its not been covered as yet. Still havent had the chance to do some pictures and put together a how to. People look at me rather strangely when I start taking ictures of cars I work on..lol

 I can imagine.

I vaguely remember you saying something about removing the battery and case eases access to it? The sensor is on top of the PAS pump isn't it? I also remember something about 2 4mm allen key bolts. Would you recommend applying some form of sealant/tape in places that water can ingress and affect the new sensor some time in the future?
