The vRS is lower than a std fabia, right? Vil the springs and dampers from a vRS be a staright swap for, say, a 02 1.4 fabia combi? :D

As far as I know no they won't...

The springs for the vRS are designed to take that huge lump of iron at the front (otherwise known as an engine)!

physically yes they will fit, but it would handle very strange becuase of the stiff springs as mentioned in the above post.

I believe Andy Ellis ran vRS suspension on his PD100 and it was an improvement over the PD100 setup. However, as pointed out above, going for a specifically designed spring/damper like Eibach will be better :D I would be wary of using hatch springs on an estate though!

ther front springs on the VRS would make a lighter engined car higher from the ground due to the stifness of the front springs. it would be higher at the front than the back.

the vRS is only 15mm lower than the standard Fabia and wouldn't really make much visual difference and as earlier mentionned would negatively affect the handling. I'm about to lower my Fabbia as I feel it doesn't look right with 17's on with the standard height and still suffers from spongey handling - Certainly go for the aftermarket springs etc!

Don't do it! I tried and had the front end 20mm HIGHER than when I started - Doh!

The VRS springs are stronger at the front for the weight of its diesel engine, the 1.4mpi is much lighter - chris_newall41's theory is correct. Also the combi/estate has stronger springs at the back for its extra load capacity.

Why do you want to change? Looks or performance? If for looks then proper/matched lowered springs will be best; eibachs are preferred. If for performance then again use eibachs BUT remember that the springs are stiffer and will make the ride firmer PLUS you will loose suspension travel. That is OK on smooth roads but can be very tiring on bumpy ones (I know; I've got eibach springs on a 1.4mpi hatch and whilst the car looks great the ride can be tiring).

Additionally, a supple ride is better for rough and cold/wet roads that I dare say you get in Norway. I would suggest you stick with the standard springs and go for stiffer shock absorbers, these will be a more suitable alternative for you to get better performance (think about the suspension set up of a rally car vs. a track car). Koni sports, the yellow ones, are adjustable and you can have a summer & winter setting!

Are you comparing a VRS before/after eibachs or a 1.4mpi?

My comment is made based on experience of a 1.4mpi before/after fitting eibachs. I guess there may be less difference with the VRS as this is stiffer to start with and has the heavier engine to soften the ride as well. I'd be interested to know as I hoping to move up to the VRS shortly and eibach or not to eibach that is the question!

My comments were based on a 1.9TDI Elegance (with jelly suspension) and also the vRS :D

I agree also. Since fitting the Eibachs, the ride is much more comfortable. You are much more 'attached' to the chassis unlike before with the standard springs which offered very little confidence in anything more than a slow bend. Complete the setup with a Jabba ARB. :thumbup:

Tell me about it. So far had standard, wrong eibachs, eibach dampers with std springs, correct eibachs, standard again and now with a rear arb. The latter is the best setup :D
