Cross beam on RS damaged

Featured Replies

A while ago I posted about hitting a rockwith my RS. Tracking is actually still in, but the dealer discovered 2 dents on the cross beam under the car. He reckons this is just cosmetic damage and he said he sees cars like this all the time. And he doesn't recommend replacing it (400 euros plus a days labour anyway) .Also the soundproofing under the engine has a tear on it. Again the dealer says this is cosmetic and he often sees cars where this has fallen off. So it looks like I got away lucky as the stone just missed the gear box. Anyone done any damage to their car in this manner ?

Yep, vapourised the under engine soundproofiing/tray when I ripped a hole in the sump :D

Nothing on the rear beam though.

Yep, also done some damage to the cross beam when driving down a rough track. Just a dint and some scratches, so no worried there then.

For the record...it was a one off so NO..I DONT NEED A 4x4

Paradoxically, some one offs come in threes. Sure about the 4X4? wink.gif

:tempted:

Must resist...must resist....

Get a 4x4! It'll help you out in soooo many ways:

1. You won't need to tell people you have an agricutural vehicle fetish. They'll know just by looking.

2. If it rains, you can shelter under it due to the massive bround clearance

3. It is available in more colours that the RS. Just think, you could indulge in your prediliction for "Pretty Boy" blue

4. It'll cost more to buy and run than the RS, yet still manage to look less desirable. Hide your wealth under a bushell.

5. It has 4x4. Just think, it'll put power where it wants, when it wants and there's not a damned thing you can do about. People will think you are a driving god fro having such an unstable/unpredictable car :D

6. Denis has one :D

So, young man, go forth and get a 4x4, secure in the knowledge that it is a far far better car than the RS.

;)

7. All tyres wear evenly

7. All tyres wear evenly

So you get a bill for 4 tyres all at once, rather than 2 at a time.

Why didn't I think of that?

Wow, I really should get one. It has so many USPs, no wonder they sold so well ;)

I had never realised just how good they were... you forgot to mention the armrest... that would be quite nice.. if only they were 6 spped auto...

Ooops - I thought I was in the Lounge for a moment! Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. :haha:

Sticks and stones may break my bones

Really?

:jab:

:D

Did you know the RS in Ireland comes with an armrest, done in leather like the seats. This of course is to make up for the crap blaupunkt stereo, 16" alloys, and no climatronic (just manual aircon). Luckily when I got my RS back in Sept 02, the dealer didn't cop the fact there was climatronic on it and I didn't get charged.
