Auto door locking

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the car doors to lock when the car is in motion and unlock again when its stationary.

YEs it is your dealer can add this function, just a software change. It unlocks when you stop and remove the ignition key.

It can also be done with VAG-COM

I have heard a little about VAG-COM, and as a techie person I would love to have a look (and play). After spending thousands on a new car not sure its a good idea.

Does anyone have the "stuff" that could have a look as I get the feeling the dealers not going to be very helpful ?

Don't have the stuff but my local dealer did it for me FOC during the first service.

Thanks guys. When I take it back to have various things addressed I'll ask them to enable it whilst they are there.

Has anyone got a VAG-COM cable suitable for the new octy.

I'd prefer not to wait for my first service

It won't un-lock when the car is stationary, it un-locks when the ignition is switched off and the key removed.

Top open the doors internaly when they are locked but the engine running you can pull the interior handle on the door that needs to be opened twice and it by passes the locking

Mine doesn't always unlock the doors upon removing the key from the ingition.

Strange eh?

You can do it yourself if you've got maxi dot

Mine doesnt have that feature via MaxiDot.

The only thing I can change is the comfort indicators.

Is it something on the latest models? Mine is a 2006 build week 19

Mine has MaxiDot and does not have this option ?

2006 - Not sure of the build week, can I obtain this information for anywhere ?

Perhaps it's like the passenger side view mirror tilting when put in reverse. Which I believe needs the electric seat pack.

It might be on the 2007 model Octavia and I know I missed out on this by a few weeks along with the MP3 socket and some other goodies.

I've not checked if it's in my Maxi dot but it can be done with VAG-COM.

Sorry, should've mentioned - I've got an 07 Octy... :D

I could not wait 12 weeks for them to build me the car I wanted so opted for the available Demo car. This also meant I got the Sports Suspension, Alloys, Maxidot and the colour I wanted cheaper.

Should've waited....!

I waited and still missed the 2007 model. :pants:

:( Ah well.

I really enjoy not using my iPOD AUX connector... :D

:grumpy:

The parts are listed for that Ipod connector you know. I don't know if there was a change in the radio.

That's something I never found out for definite. I thought I read there might be a firmware update for the MP3 units with the AUX connector but there is an AUX option on my pre-MP3 model stream.

I also got my hands on a CD changer emulator so I can connect an MP3 player to it through the changer plug.

Hopefully it will all be academic as I am setting my sights on an MFD2 nav unit.

Tinted wing mirrors too! :P
