Coolant loss - where??

Featured Replies

The Mrs' Fabia 1.4, 16V ('51), is losing water - or so it appears at the header tank.

She's having to fill it from minimum to max about every 10 days.

Looking at the oil filler cap, there appears to be the distinct presence of 'mayonnaise' - not the egg sort neither!

Yes - emulsified oil and water.

She does relatively short journeys to work and back (less than 10 miles each way), so i'm not 100% it's a head gasket or cracked head/block.

Anyone know if this engine is prone to head problems??

Luckily it's under warranty, so i guess the dealer will have it AGAIN!

She's a bit naffed-off, as it's been back to them a few times since she bought it.

ABS/ECU issues were the subject of a half-dozen visit trial-and many-error saga.

If only everying in life was as reliable as concrete blocks.

probably either radiator or connecting hose couplings or rad fan switch.

agree with K. your mayonnaise is probly mositer from the short trips to work and back.

Get it too the dealer ASAP as new engines should not do this. The water loss is far too severe to be anything else than a failed head gasket, and from what I remember, yes there was a batch of 1.4 Fabias with faulty head gaskets although I can't remember the year.
