Spider in the speedo!

Featured Replies

Help! There is a small spider which has found its way behind the plastic around the speedo and he has took it upon himself to walk around while I am driving, and I know he is going to die in the corner just to spite me!

Anyway, back to the point, is there an easy way to get behind that plastic because I have heard its a nightmare to get into!

Other than that just wondering if the dealer can easily get into it without causing any squeaks?

Damn you spider!

I thought that was a sealed unit.

Apparently not if you're a spider!

An interesting looking (big and ugly) spider had decided to set up a web the size of the front passenger window yesterday and settle down in the middle of it.

Why on the inside of the car I don't know.

Spiders seem to love cars

I know he is going to die in the corner just to spite me!

Sure he wont die right in the middle ?

I've got an 'Extreme Sport' spider on my wing mirror and he only comes out at above 80mph and hangs like mad with a massive grin on his face*

When I slow down he goes behind the mirror again.

*Probably

pmsl!!

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad and remind you of your loss.

Just think, Barney's memory lives on in wing mirrors across the country. He's a lesson to us all.

i dont think its too difficult to get the instrument cluster out , unclip the trim under the cluster and iirc there are 2 screws to undo then the cluster will tip up and come out , you can see if you can entice the spider out then with some fresh dead fly meat

I will take a look over the weekend, I may have to ask him if he likes his flys rare or well done.

I am sure he keeps grinning at me!

:wrthless:

Had a new tenant (not an old friend) dangle down from my sun visor who thought it was great fun swinging in front of my nose.

TBH if I were a spider I'd do that. Mwahahahaha

As I'm not a spider, I just hope they're gonna do their high fives (or eights) and return quietly to their Speedometer home :)

Ask and thee shall recieve - I cannot believe I actually did this!

Neither can I (believe you actually did that) LOL. But they are fascinating.

As it's sitting at Zero MPH waitiing to go, does it run up and round as the speedo needle rises to NSL?

This question has to be asked

Nah, but I pitty the poor guy behind me if it gets anywhere near the arm - stamp on the brakes to knock it out!

What is even more depressing is that I have started talking to it while driving! :o

I was sat in traffic today and could see the car in front had it's very own mirror spider. It reminded me of Barney for a split second before I came back to my senses and checked my own mirror. I'm glad to say that I still don't have one of my own, unless my driving scares him so much he ducks for cover when he sees me walking towards my car

2 cross head screws accessed from under the lower column shroud which screw vertically into the upper shroud, 2 torx screws on the plastic surround and clips at the base and pull it away with the upper column shroud. 4 torx screws that hold the cluster in and 2 electrical plugs on which a lever has to be lifted and moved about 180 degrees to release them. The instrument "glass" is just clipped on. You could get by without having to un plug it.

meames I also have a spider visiting my binical! Suffice to say he won't be staying long! :)

I had one of the wing mirror variety when I picked the Fabia up , I think he was allergic to Meguires NXT shampoo tho!
