Koni FSD's

Featured Replies

Got my FSD's fitted yesterday and after a hiccup with the top strut bolt not fully tightened, I am very pleased with them. I ordered them from Awesome last Thurs and they arrived the next day! (thankyou Sarah:thumbup: ) The ride is much better than it was with just the springs, the bumps are soaked up nicely because the car feels softer but when you push it round corners the dampers stiffen up. I would possibly have liked the set up to be a bit firmer but I no longer have to steer clear of any bumps or potholes(ok maybe the big ones) so I'm not complaining!

Yay another one with FSD's. Definately a great set of dampers for everyday driving :)

Hi

Yes I remember ordering them for you :)

Nice one , I think it is about time that some more of you out there should go in to the FSD gang!!!

Nice one

Thank you

Sarah

Are the FSD's vRS specific ?

No they are not.

You will find that the springs are what are specific , but not shockers

Sarah

I seem to remember reading on here that the FSD's were designed to be used with OEM springs, presumably to give them the full length of their travel? So how does running with lowering springs affect that? :D

Chris

There's lots of people that say they are specific to OEM springs but when you ask the techie bods at Koni and a lot of the people who supply them, they all say that a mild drop (around 30-40mm at most) is fine with the dampers. After using them with the Eibach -25mm springs I can also say that they work fine. Not only that but didn't they release a kit recently where the Koni FSD's were paired with the Eibach springs (or vice versa)?

Did you get the bump stop trimmed down for these dampers?

Are these adjustable too, to make them firmer?

How much?

I didnt realise the FSD's were available for the fabia. I had a look on the awsome site a few days ago and thought it only listed octy's.

Hi

Yes these are available now.

They was litrally hot off the press when I put the info up on here

I had already trimmed my bump stops down when I had just the springs, so when the FSD's were fitted they just used the old bump stops.

They are not adjustable, but they adapt to the forces on them, i.e if you are driving normally they are soft and soak most things up and then when you push it into corners they firm up by themselves! I would say the ride comfort is now on a par with how the car was standard (although I am running 40 profile tyres). The one down side is that they have raised the car slightly.

Cost incl. fitting,

How much do they cost without fitting. They are proving illusive on the Awesome website.

The one down side is that they have raised the car slightly.

I thought the ride height was governed by the springs and not the dampers???

If the old shocks were worn, they will have made the car sit lower....new shocks, until they settle will at first make the car look higher. I just made all that up, but it sounds reasonable

Correct and well put
