Just about to inform my insurer(privelege) that ive got a rear arb attatched to my furbie

Any fellow rear arbed up briskodians had any dealing with them re mods?

If they are very mod unfriendly ill have a search around before i phone them up

incase they bin me there and then:(

yeah i bought the car new

So i take it that my insurance wouldnt cough up

if i was unlucky enough to use them for a claim

Some insurers view it as a cosmetic accessory rather than a performance enhancing one so it might be worth an 'anonymous' call to them first

You can quite honestly say it does not make the car go faster nor affect the acceleration/speed.

I'm with Elephant and they got back to me with a price of an extra £14 quid. So if they are not a 'no mods of any kind' type insurer I doubt it'll go up much?

Seeing as technically you should really have told them before it's attached, just phone them up and ask how much extra it'd be IF you did attach one, then if it's all ok you can ask them to put it on your insurance immediately, say you're going to buy and have it fitted tomorrow. If they don't like it then just say ok and that you won't fit it - I'd then take it off or find somewhere who will insure you with it on. As your insurance is now null and void

ARB had no affect on my insurance, nor did the Pd 160 air intake, or the strut brace and clutch.

Obviously, my remap did, and the green stuff filter did.

Interestingly, the dampers and springs also didn't have any affect, but they listed them as "factory fitted". I rang them back and told them they weren't fitted in the factory, and then they increased my premium slightly.

Would have thought the ARB would be a safety mod like adding big brakes. Funny how most insurance companies don't recognise some mods as being good for the car and the insurance risk.

You didn't see my rear ARB testing on the airfield in Czech. Was able to floor 2nd on a hard lock and turn in a circle of about 10 metres at about 25mph.

After a mix up where they wouldnt insure me with a roll bar to stop me getting crushed if i turned the car over

I know that this is against the law and possibly results in your insurance being void, BUT:

What if you just don't tell them? I've just noticed that Jabba do their uprated ARB in black now, which tempts me even more to get one. I couldn't see the point of the bright green one TBH. Surely they'll never tell it's a different one if it's black AND coverd in loads of road grime etc.

:thumbdwn: I would have thought that the insurance company would NOT pay out on any claim if you do not tell them of any modifications to the car and your policy would be null and viod ! if they can riggle out of paying out then they will ! make no dought about it, thats why they are talking about putting up premiums for younger drivers. Has anybody had a claim refused like this ? as I know a mechanic at a garage and the insurance company sent somebody round to inspect the damaged car for modifications.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am petrified of insurance not paying out so ALWAYS declare all mods, but my point is that even if they DID send someone round to check for modifications, surely the asessor person wouldn't spot a black, dirty, Jabba ARB? or would they?!!

It isn't a matter of it being a different one. The standard car doesn't have a rear ARB at all, so if you've got one it's obvious whatever colour it is.
